Rate and Fee Schedules

Current Residential Rates:  Your water bill consists of several different charges, including Water Base Rate, Water Usage Rate, Sewer Base Rate and Pool Maintenance Fee.

Water Base Rate:  This Water Base Rate is a flat monthly fee that meets a portion of the fixed costs to provide service to any existing meter.  This rate is intended to recover a proportionate share of the fixed costs associated with operating and maintaining our water system.  On June 20th, 2019 the Burney Water District Board of Directors held a public hearing and passed a monthly water base rate for a regular (5/8") line increase effective July 1st, 2019 to $21.50 for each residence on a meter regardless of how much water is used.

Water Usage Rate:  The Water Usage Rate is intended to cover variable water system costs, such as water testing and pumping costs.  On May 21st, 2015 the Burney Water District Board of Directors held a public hearing and passed a Water Usage Rate increase effective July 1st, 2015 to $0.83 per hundred cubic foot (100 cubic feet = 748 gallons).  This Water Usage Rate varies each month depending on individual customer usage.

Sewer Base Rate:  The Sewer Base Rate is a flat monthly fee that is used to operate, maintain, and protect the system that collects, treats and disposes of domestic and industrial sewage.  On May 21st, 2015 the Burney Water District Board of Directors held a public hearing and passed a Sewer Base Rate increase on July 1st, 2015.  Sewer Base Rate Charges are determined by the Average Winter Flow (AWF), measured in Cubic Feet (CF).  The AWF is calculated by averaging December, January and February metered water usage.  The Sewer Base Rates are adjusted annually, with rate charges reflected on the August billing cycle.  The Sewer Base Rate Charge Formula is approximately ((0.017 x CF) + 24.23).
