District Manager

Burney is located in the heart of the world-renowned fishing area of Eastern Shasta County, between Mount Shasta and Mount Lassen, and approximately fifty miles east of Redding, California. The area is known for its beautiful waterfalls, crystal clear streams, clear blue skies and fresh, pine scented mountain air.

The District Manager (DM) is the executive officer of the District and responsible for the operations and administration of the District.

The Manager will be skilled at evaluating, recommending and implementing solutions to complex issues and problems; and will also be a strong leader with demonstrated proficiency in helping staff to set priorities, produce quality work, and meet critical deadlines. The manager will mentor staff while holding them accountable; and be credible, trustworthy, and hands-on. Additional requirements for this position include excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical materials and effectively communicate with all members of the organization as well as customers.

The DM is expected to attend all Board meetings, perform administrative tasks, represent the District as liaison with regulatory agencies, prepare reports, supervise and evaluate staff, prepare a variety of documents for the Board of Directors, administer contracts and enforce District rules, regulations and ordinances.

PREFERRED OUALIFICATIONS:

California Grade 3 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certification.

2 years’ experience at a tertiary wastewater treatment plant.

California Grade 2 or 3 Water Distribution Operator's Certification.

California Grade 2 or 3 Water Treatment Operator's Certification.

5 years’ progressive experience in a supervisory and/or management role.

This at-will position’s starting salary is negotiable and offers a moving and relocation allowance. The District has generous benefits that include Medical, Dental, Vision, Certification Pay, Longevity Pay, and group Life Insurance. The District participates in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS), and employees can voluntarily participate in the CalPERS Supplemental Income 457 Plan. District staff enjoy 12 paid holidays, 3 additional paid days off/year, and accrued vacation and sick leave.
